The short version

No accounts

We do not ask you to create an account or profile.

Public data

The app reads the public Letterboxd pages you request.

Your choice

Optional analytics stay off until you allow them.

02

Data used to provide the service

When you submit a Letterboxd username, the app sends it to its server to retrieve the corresponding public diary, heatmap or watchlist. Comparison mode processes two public usernames. This information is used to answer that request and is not added to an application user database.

Collage images are assembled in your browser. Results, recommendations and watchlist picks remain in temporary application memory and disappear when the page is reset or closed.

Important: because usernames currently appear in API request paths, they may be present temporarily in hosting and network logs maintained for security, reliability and debugging.

For movie recommendations, the server processes rated film titles and the public username. A taste summary and a list of watched titles are sent to Google Gemini to generate suggestions. TMDB is queried for movie metadata, credits and posters.

03

Optional product analytics

With your permission, the app sends manually selected events to PostHog's EU service. These events tell us which feature was used, whether it succeeded, how long it took and whether a result action such as a download was started.

We do not send Letterboxd usernames, movie titles, ratings, recommendation text, API request URLs or request bodies to PostHog. Autocapture, session replay, automatic error capture and person profiles are disabled.

If you allow analytics, PostHog stores a random anonymous identifier insessionStorage. It lasts for the browser tab's session and is not connected to your Letterboxd username. PostHog may also process technical connection metadata according to the project configuration and its own privacy terms.

Your analytics choice is saved inlocalStorageso we do not ask on every visit. This preference is essential to remember your choice; it is not used for advertising.

05

Storage and retention

The app does not maintain a user account database. Submitted data is processed for the duration of the request. Infrastructure providers may retain operational logs under their configured retention periods, and PostHog retains accepted analytics events under the project's retention settings. We periodically review these settings and remove data that is no longer needed for product reliability and improvement.

06

Your choices and rights

You can reject analytics without losing any app functionality. You can also change or withdraw your choice at any time using the button below. Withdrawing consent stops future analytics collection on this browser.

For questions or requests concerning your data, contact the operator, Alessandro Rodrigues, through GitHub . Because analytics events are anonymous and not connected to an account, we may be unable to locate a specific event as belonging to you.
